The working of wisdom and compassion itself is the “Buddha.”
（1月）称えるままがつねに御本願のみこころを聞くことになる（香樹院 徳龍）
Simply saying Namo Amida Butsu is itself hearing the significance of Amida’s
Primal vow.
（2月）拝むとは拝まれて居た事に気付き醒めること（高光 大船）
By bowing and paying respects to the Buddha, I have come to realize it is reciprocated.
（3月）死んで往ける道はそのまま生きてゆく道です（東 昇）
The path that leads me to the Pure Land after death is itself the path I follow for
living life.
（4月）出会わねばならないただひとりの人がいる それは私自身（廣瀬 杲）
There is one person for sure whom I cannot help but meet with. That is my own self.
（5月）わしひとりをめあての本願のありがたさ（花岡 大学）
There is nothing more grateful than Amida’s Primal Vow, which is intended just for me.
（6月）ものが縛るのではありません ものをとらえる心に縛られるのです

Material wealth does not tie us down. Rather, it is the intention to seize material wealth
that does.
（7月）私が私であってよかったといえるあなたになれ（中島 みどり）
I aspire to become someone like you who says, “I am glad I am me.”
（8月）今を生きずにいつを生きる ここを生きずにどこを生きる（大神 信幸）
If we do not live life to the utmost here and now, in what lifetime and where will we do
so ?
（9月）煩悩の嵐の中にも念仏において本願の呼び声が聞こえてくる（正親含英）
Even amidst the tempest of self-centered desires, one can hear the calling of the
Primal Vow in the working of Namo Amida Butsu.
（10月）世俗の論理の行き詰ることを教えるのが仏法（栗山 力精）
The Buddha Dharma teaches me of the impasses in secular logic.
（11月）如来の本願は称名念仏にあり（藤本 正樹）
The working of Amida’s Primal Vow is in the intoning of Namo Amida Butsu.
（12月）生活の中で念仏するのではなく念仏の上に生活がいとなまれる（和田稠）
We do not say the Nembutsu as a mere routine in our lives, but rather, we live our lives
centered on the Nembutsu.

上記法語カレンダーは、広島県竹原市の長善寺（浄土真宗本願寺派）が当寺用に採用し、その門徒である親戚から頂きました。（ ）内の名前は各派の先達者で、それぞれの言葉の作者です。（英訳もついていました）。どの言葉も心に響いてきます。これから一年、親しんでいきたいと思っています。
